Do you know what is lurking in your morning coffee?
Many of us start every day with a trip to our favorite coffee shop, expecting that all that is in the cup is simply coffee.
However, Starbucks have been covering up the fact that their products contain GMO’s, a fact which many of the public would be put off by.
GMO’s have made a name for themselves being linked to an unnatural and un-wholesome way of food production.
Starbucks are known to have spent several millions of dollars covering up the use of GMO’s in their products as part of a GMA-led union.
A spokesperson for Food Democracy Now said ‘In the past two years alone, Starbucks has been a part of a GMA-led coalition that has donated more than $70 million dollars to defeat GMO labeling efforts in California and Washington State,’ and that ‘By opposing GMO labeling, Starbucks has willingly climbed in bed with Monsanto and the GMA and is intentionally misleading customers about their commitment to sustainability and ethical sourcing.’
Starbucks have also hit headlines in the past for deception, they were part of a global scandal which exposed them as being tax avoiders despite being one the most successful companies in the world.
They use factory farmed cows which are kept in awful conditions and fed on GMO grain which then is transferred into your coffee via the milk.
Starbucks have time and again shown themselves to be a heartless brand with little concern for the health and environmental implications into the methods they use.
Does this sound like a company you want to keep donating to? Be smart and choose a grass-roots coffee shop instead, chose organic over cruelty and stay away from a coffee full of GMO’s.
